Crypto payments glossary

Each term below is explained in one sentence first, then with the statuses, fields and events CryptoLike uses for it. The words are the same everywhere: a status on the checkout page is the same string as in the API and in your webhooks, and a fee is always named — platform fee or network fee.

Use the glossary to read the API documentation, to answer a customer's question about a payment, or to agree on wording inside your team. Every term links to the part of the docs where it lives and to a related guide.

B

Block reorganisation (reorg)
What a block reorganisation is, why a detected transfer is not yet a payment, and how CryptoLike reverses a credit and notifies you when a reorg removes a transfer.

C

Cold wallet
What a cold wallet is, how it differs from a hot wallet, and how CryptoLike moves surplus funds to cold storage only with an operator's 2FA approval.
Confirmations
What a blockchain confirmation is, how CryptoLike sets the threshold per asset, and when a crypto payment moves from pending to paid and is credited.
Crypto invoice
A one-off request for a fixed amount with a time limit and its own payment page. How a CryptoLike invoice is created, priced, paid and reported.

D

Dual approval
A second person confirms large payouts before they leave. How CryptoLike sets the threshold per asset, who may approve and what awaiting_approval means.

E

ERC20
The token standard of Ethereum. How CryptoLike accepts USDT and USDC on ERC20, why the payer needs ETH for gas, and how the payment page shows the network.
Expired payment
A crypto payment whose time to pay ran out with nothing confirmed. What CryptoLike does with it, what the customer sees and what to do with late funds.

H

Hot wallet
What a hot wallet is, why a payment platform needs one for payouts, and how CryptoLike limits what stays in it and moves the surplus to cold storage.

I

A unique request value that makes a retry return the first result instead of a duplicate. How the CryptoLike API uses Idempotency-Key, order_id and payout_id.

K

KYB (Know Your Business)
What KYB verification is, which CryptoLike features need a verified account, which documents are uploaded and what happens while the review is pending.

N

Network fee
The fee a blockchain charges to record a transaction. Who pays it on incoming crypto payments, and how CryptoLike reserves and charges it on payouts.

O

Overpaid payment
A crypto payment that exceeds the amount due. CryptoLike keeps the status paid, credits the whole sum and reports the surplus in overpaid_amount.

P

Payment link
A link that opens a hosted page for one crypto payment. How CryptoLike creates it from the API, the cabinet or the Telegram bot, and how long it stays valid.
Payout whitelist
A list of pre-approved payout addresses. How CryptoLike delays new entries, enforces the list for the cabinet and API keys, and what a refused payout returns.
Platform fee
The charge a crypto payment processor takes on top of network fees. How CryptoLike sets it per asset and direction and who pays it: you or the payer.

R

Rate lock
Fixing the fiat-to-crypto rate of a payment while the customer pays. When CryptoLike locks the rate, how long it holds and what rate_locked shows.

S

A crypto token pegged to a fiat currency by its issuer. Which stablecoins CryptoLike accepts, on which networks, and how to price a payment in them.
Static address
A permanent deposit address for one customer and one asset. How CryptoLike credits every transfer to it and how it differs from a one-off payment.

T

Testnet and test keys
What a test network is, how CryptoLike test keys (ck_test_) work with test networks, and how to pay a test payment with test coins before going live.
Transaction ID (txid)
What a transaction ID is, where CryptoLike shows it for payments, deposits and payouts, and how to use it to check a transfer in a block explorer.
TRC20
The token standard of the TRON network. How CryptoLike accepts USDT on TRC20, what the payer needs in the wallet and why the network warning matters.
TRON energy and bandwidth
What energy and bandwidth are on TRON, why sending USDT TRC20 needs TRX, and who pays for them when a customer pays or when CryptoLike sends a payout.

U

Underpaid payment
A crypto payment that arrives short of the amount due. How CryptoLike keeps the address open for a top-up and what remaining_amount tells you.

W

Webhook signature
A keyed hash proving that a webhook came from the platform and was not altered. How to verify the CryptoLike X-Signature header over the raw body.
