KYB, or know your business, is how a payment platform learns who stands behind an account before money leaves it. At CryptoLike, verification is tied to payouts: you can integrate, test and accept payments from the first day, and payouts start once the account is verified. This article explains what CryptoLike asks for, how the review goes, what each status means and what to do when a request is rejected.
This article describes how verification works in CryptoLike. It is not legal advice: your own obligations depend on your business and your jurisdiction.
What is KYB, and why do payment platforms check businesses?
KYB is a check of a business, or of the person behind an account: who owns it, who runs it and what it does. Payment providers generally run it before money can leave the platform, because they sit between the people who pay and the business that receives the money.
KYC, know your customer, verifies a person. KYB looks at a business and at the people who own and control it, which is why the documents cover both the company and its director. The goals are practical: know who receives and withdraws the funds, keep fraud and stolen money away from the platform, keep sanctioned parties out, and be able to answer when someone asks who was paid.
KYB is not the same as AML screening. KYB looks at the account holder; screening looks at each transfer, at the address a payment comes from and the address a payout goes to. CryptoLike runs both, and how screening works is explained in AML screening of crypto payments.
Do you need KYB to accept crypto payments?
No. At CryptoLike, verification is required for payouts, not for receiving money. Invoices, static addresses, payment links, CMS plugins and the Хорошоп connector work before verification, and you can try all of them with test keys and test networks.
Until the account is verified, every way of sending money out is refused. A payout through the API answers 403 kyb_required with the message "account verification (KYB) is required before withdrawing"; a CSV file of payouts is refused the same way; the Telegram bot replies that business verification is required before payouts. In the cabinet, the refusal raises the banner "Verification required." with a Go to verification button.
Incoming payments keep being credited to your balance meanwhile, so the money is waiting when the check is done. The practical advice: start verification when you start the integration, not when the first payout is due. The two run in parallel.
Which documents CryptoLike asks for
The verification page lists five document types. Each upload is one file of one type: pick the type in the Document type field, then drop the file or click to choose it.
| Document type in the cabinet | What it tells the reviewer |
|---|---|
| Company registration | That the business exists and under which name |
| Director's ID | Who runs the business |
| Proof of address | Where the business or the person is based |
| Ownership structure | Who owns the business |
| Other | Anything that fits none of the types above |
Files are accepted as PDF, PNG or JPEG of up to 10 MB each. The content must match the format: a file renamed to .pdf that is not a PDF is refused. The number of documents per account is limited, so upload final versions rather than drafts; an uploaded file cannot be removed from the cabinet, and a corrected version is simply uploaded next to it.
Only the owner or an admin of the account can upload documents. Every member of the team can open the page, see the status and the list of uploaded files, and download them. Businesses in regulated or higher-risk categories are reviewed individually. Individuals can use CryptoLike too: the page and the statuses are the same for them.
How verification works, step by step
Verification has four steps, and the first upload starts it: there is no separate submit button. The cabinet shows the status with its own label; the API and the Telegram bot use the values in brackets.
| Step | What you do in the cabinet | What CryptoLike does | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Open the page | Settings → Verification | Shows the status, the document types and the files already uploaded | Not verified (none) |
| 2. Upload | Choose the type and the file; repeat for each document | Checks the format and size, stores the file and puts the account in the review queue with the first upload | Under verification (pending) |
| 3. Review | Nothing is required; you can add documents while you wait | A reviewer at CryptoLike checks the whole set | Under verification (pending) |
| 4. Decision | Read the result on the same page | Verifies the account, or rejects the request with a comment | Verified (verified) or Verification declined (rejected) |
The page shows when the documents were submitted and when the decision was made. You can also check the status with the /kyb command in the Telegram bot, and the digest, if you receive one by e-mail or in Telegram, lists an unfinished verification among the open actions. Applications wait in a queue, oldest first, and a person decides on each one: there is no automatic approval.
A verified status lets payouts through from that moment. CryptoLike can revisit a decision later; each payout request is checked against the status at the moment it is created. Once the account is verified, the Verification page shows the status and the files already uploaded, without an upload form. If your documents change, for example after a change of director, send the new ones to support@cryptolike.net.
If verification is rejected
A rejection always comes with a reviewer's comment that says what is wrong or missing. The cabinet shows the banner "Verification rejected.", marks Verification in the menu with "!", and shows the comment on the page under Reviewer's comment; /kyb in Telegram shows it too.
To recover, read the comment and upload the corrected or missing documents. The first new upload sends the account back to Under verification and clears the old comment, and the review starts again. Your earlier files stay in the list, so the reviewer sees the whole history.
A rejection does not block the account. Payments, static addresses and payment links keep working, and incoming money is credited as usual; only payouts wait. CryptoLike may refuse verification, and in that case payouts stay unavailable, as the terms of use say. If the comment is unclear, write to support from the account's e-mail address.
How your documents are handled
Documents are visible only inside your own account. In the cabinet, a link to a document of another account answers "not found", never the file. The reviewer may keep internal notes on a document; those stay inside CryptoLike, and what reaches you is the decision and its comment.
On CryptoLike's side, every time a reviewer opens a document and every decision is recorded in an audit log. The files are kept in encrypted object storage. The privacy policy describes what verification data is collected, why, and how long it is kept: while your account exists, and after closure as long as legal, accounting and security obligations require.
KYB and the other payout controls
Verification is one of several conditions a payout must meet, not the only one. The others are set per account or per key and apply to verified accounts as well.
- 2FA. Payouts from the cabinet are confirmed with a 2FA code.
- API key permission. A key needs
withdrawto create payouts; a shop key never needs it. - Whitelist and second approval. The payout whitelist limits destinations, and the second approval asks another owner or admin to confirm large payouts from the cabinet or the Telegram bot; API payouts are not held for it.
- Review and screening. Payouts beyond the account's limits go to a manual review, and every destination is screened.
All of them are listed in one place on the security page.
How to get verified with CryptoLike
Your part of verification is the upload; the rest is the review. Plan it alongside the integration so that payouts are ready when you need them.
- Create the account, confirm the e-mail and build the integration with test keys — see testing crypto payments.
- As the owner or an admin, open Settings → Verification and upload each document with its type.
- While the review runs, switch on 2FA and set up the whitelist and the second approval — see payout whitelist and dual approval.
- When the status reads Verified, send your first payout or a CSV batch — see crypto mass payouts.
FAQ
Do I need KYB to accept crypto payments as a business?
Not at CryptoLike. Invoices, static addresses, payment links, plugins and the Хорошоп connector work before verification, and incoming payments are credited to your balance. Verification (KYB) is required before payouts: until the account is verified, a payout request answers 403 kyb_required. Start it early so that payouts are ready when you need them.
How long does KYB verification take?
A person reviews each application, in the order applications arrive, so the time depends on the queue and on whether the set is complete. Upload every document the page lists in one go: a missing document means a rejection and a second round. The decision appears on the Verification page in the cabinet and with /kyb in the Telegram bot.
What happens if my verification is rejected?
The account is not blocked: payments keep arriving and are credited, and only payouts wait. The rejection comes with a reviewer's comment on the Verification page. Upload the corrected or missing documents, and the first new upload sends the account back to review. If the comment is unclear, write to support from the account's e-mail.
Who on my team can upload KYB documents?
The owner and the admins of the account. Other team members can open the Verification page, see the status, the reviewer's comment and the uploaded files, but cannot add documents. Each file is a PDF, PNG or JPEG of up to 10 MB, uploaded with its document type.
Can I add documents after the account is verified?
Not in the cabinet: after verification the Verification page shows the status and the uploaded files, but no upload form. To send new documents, for example after a change of director or ownership, write to support@cryptolike.net. Before verification, and after a rejection, you upload on the Verification page, and a new upload starts a new review.
