The token standard of the TRON blockchain: a smart-contract interface that moves tokens such as USDT between TRON addresses, which start with the letter "T".

## How it works in CryptoLike

CryptoLike accepts [USDT on TRON (TRC20)](https://cryptolike.net/coins/usdt-trc20) as its own asset, separate from USDT on Ethereum (ERC20): its own `coin_id` in `GET /v1/currencies`, `network: tron`, its own balance, confirmation threshold and fee. Payments, static addresses and payouts all work with it. The native coin of the network, [TRX](https://cryptolike.net/coins/tron), is a separate asset too.

The checkout page shows the network next to the address and a warning: "Send only USDT on the TRON (TRC20) network to this address. Funds sent on another network cannot be recovered." The QR code holds the bare address; the payer pairs it with the amount shown beside it, and an "open in wallet" link uses `tron:<address>?amount=<decimal>&token=<contract>`.

A TRC20 transfer consumes energy and bandwidth; a sender without them has TRX burnt instead, so the payer's wallet needs some TRX even when paying in USDT. On a USDT payout, CryptoLike reserves the [network fee](https://cryptolike.net/glossary/network-fee) converted into USDT and shows it in the estimate before you confirm.

## TRC20 or ERC20?

The same USDT exists on both networks, and CryptoLike treats them as two assets with separate addresses and balances. A transfer sent on the wrong network does not reach the payment.
