A crypto payment whose time to pay ran out before a transfer to its address was confirmed, so it no longer waits for funds.

## How it works in CryptoLike

Every CryptoLike payment has a time to pay: `ttl_seconds` at creation (from 60 seconds to 30 days) or your account's default. It is returned as `ttl_expires_at` and shown as a countdown on the checkout page. When it passes with nothing confirmed, the status becomes `expired`, `expired_at` is set and you receive `invoice.expired`. The payment no longer changes on its own; only a CryptoLike operator can extend and reopen it.

The checkout page says "Payment expired. Create a new payment.", and in the cabinet an expired payment offers "Create a new payment" instead of the share block. A fiat price is never re-priced on an expired payment: a new payment gets a new [locked rate](https://cryptolike.net/glossary/rate-lock). A payment that received part of the amount does not become `expired` — after the TTL it stays [underpaid](https://cryptolike.net/glossary/underpaid-payment) as a final status.

If the payer still sends funds to the address after expiry, CryptoLike credits them to your balance, sets `late_payment: true` and sends `invoice.late_payment`. The status stays `expired`. Decide with the customer whether to fulfil the order or return the funds. For a shop order, create a new payment and send the customer its link.

## Example

A CryptoLike payment carries its deadline from the first response, so your system can warn the customer or plan a reminder before the payment closes. `expired_at` stays `null` until the payment is closed by its TTL. The values below are illustrative:

```json
{
  "status": "expired",
  "late_payment": false,
  "ttl_expires_at": "2026-09-16T12:30:00Z",
  "expired_at": "2026-09-16T12:30:12Z"
}
```
